Join us online this October for the 2020 CRKN Virtual Conference!
Following the success of the inaugural CRKN Conference last year, we invite members, stakeholders, partners, and the GLAM community to participate in this year’s event, which will be held over the course of October as a series of online presentations.
The theme of this year’s conference is “Access in Transition.” Sessions will include:
Week 1: Access as a Value (October 1)
How do academic libraries and GLAM organizations define access in 2020? Our conference will be launched with presentations and discussions that explore the question of what access means in the rapidly changing research landscape.
Week 2: Access to Research (October 6 and 8)
Join us for sessions on how licensing and collections strategies can enhance access to research. Learn more about data-driven analysis techniques, negotiation strategies, the future of open access, and more.
Week 3: Access and Preservation (October 13 and 15)
In this week’s sessions, we will explore the challenges and opportunities of digitizing, preserving, and providing access to heritage materials. We will also hear new perspectives on working with library, archival, and museum collections with a focus on access and preservation.
Week 4: Access in Action (CRKN Business Sessions – October 21 and 22 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with optional virtual social gatherings)
CRKN staff, Board, and committee members will come together to provide updates on CRKN licensing activities, digitization and preservation, partnerships and collaborations, and progress towards strategic objectives.
Meeting of the Members: Thursday, October 22, 2020 at 1:45 to 3:00 p.m. Eastern time
Week 5: Access in Transition (October 27 and 29)
Our final week of sessions will focus on the global changes that have affected us this year. From offering remote services during the COVID-19 pandemic to re-examining biases that are inherent within cultural and educational institutions, we will provide a platform to share experiences and reflections.
Registration details, as well as more information about the conference sessions and virtual social events, including timing will be available in the coming weeks. Due to the exceptional circumstances faced by CRKN members, stakeholders, and partners, the CRKN Board of Directors will be waiving registration fees for this virtual event.
